UK

What are some of the thoughts that come to your mind while
deciding on Immigrating to a new country??

With over 500,000 international students coming to the UK every year, the country is an ideal place to access world-class education, a multicultural environment, and excellent career opportunities.

UK Education System

The UK has one of the world’s best education systems, with world-renowned universities and colleges. The UK offers various levels of higher education, ranging from Level 5 to Level 7. Level 5 courses include Certificate of Higher Education, Higher National Diploma, Diploma of Higher Education, and Foundation degrees. Bachelor’s degrees fall under Level 6 and typically last three years. Post-graduate diplomas, certificates, and Master’s degrees fall under Level 7.

Language Requirement

The language requirements vary by institution and program. Typically, undergraduate courses require IELTS scores between 5.5 and 6.5, TOEFL scores between 60.0 and 90.0, PTE Academic scores between 50 and 64, or CAE or CPE scores between 169 and 176, with no less than 169 in each category. Post-graduate and professional programs usually have stricter language requirements.

Academic Terms

Most universities in the UK start their academic year in September (Autumn or Fall sessions). A few universities and colleges offer admissions in Spring (Jan-Apr) and Summer (May-Aug) sessions. Undergraduate course admission deadlines are usually mid-October for courses at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, medicine, veterinary medicine/science, and dentistry, mid-January for the majority of courses, and end of June or until the course fills up for international students.

Study Visa Facts

The UK student visa is sponsored by the institution where the student intends to study. Visa decisions are typically made within three weeks of attending the biometrics appointment at the visa application center. Students enrolled in a full-time program at degree level and above can work for a maximum of 20 hours in any given week, while those studying below degree level may work up to 10 hours. Students can also work full-time during vacation periods, including winter, summer, and spring holiday breaks when classes are not in session. Students sponsored by a higher education institution for a course at Level 7 or above that lasts nine months or more can apply to bring their dependent family members with them to the UK.
